skip to content jslewis just another wordpress site scroll down to content posts posted on november 25, 2018 planting peace and tolerance in the nation introduction: peace has to be seen as a basic condition of freedom and happiness, without peace there cannot be real freedom. everyplace there is a threat or resentment, our freedom and happiness are inhibited or totally prevented. and for the highest level of freedom is also needed the highest level of peace. hence, to experience a higher sense of freedom and potential happiness, we have to live in a society where there is a higher level of peace, and also in a world with a higher level of peace. however, humanity must always seek to advance and reach peace and security. living in peace isn’t just the dream of many people, but it’s necessary for a stable life in this world. according to prem rawat, peace can bring a lot of pleasure. it is so beautiful that makes it necessary. it is a concept and not just an idea. the desire for peace does not come from thoughts nor hopes. it comes from every individual. in this research, i seek to find a way to plant and promote peace in children at first then it will be separated all over the world, and that will challenge the culture of violence at its root, which will alleviate the pain of humanity and makes the world a better place to live in. abstract: war is a threat to security, growing from hatred while at the same time strengthening hatred and destruction in the world, so hating wars is only a motive for the pursuit of peace and the promotion of tolerance, which is the key to peace. the best way to promote peace, is to plant it in the hearts of children to live inside them , then it will grow up with them , to make the world a better place for the next generations, which will be full of peace and tranquility and immersed in love security and happiness, using the most effective means of planting values in children, which is animation (cartoon programs ) , has been scientifically proven that the animation has a large impact in the education of the child and the implantation of principles and values within it, which reflects on his personality and his impact in this world in the future. so to planting peace in children, we have to teach them what’s wrong and what’s right. then we have to stop cartoon programs which contain violence and bad habits that break children’s values. and the most important thing is to make animation programs which contain the culture of peace and not violence, in an attractive way for children, so peace will live on their minds then it will appear in their behaviors. so they will live in peace in their real life, then life will be full of peace, happiness, and caring for others. peace why do we need peace in the world? it is because of the following: the positive effects it brings through love, friendship, unity. it creates a lot of constructive and positive activities. it is an essential element to all human rights’ realization, which will give greater chances for shortening violence and undertaking conflicts peacefully. it is an ingredient for moral values of safety for the realization of a higher level of peace, fairness, reverence, and righteousness and their corresponding standards. it can give prosperity, absence of enmity and hostility, cooperation and sustainable trade. how can we promote peace? peace prevails when it settled as thought and action in the hearts of humans when every human being is convinced that there is no way to live in peace and tranquility except in the pursuit of peace. this is only by demonstrating good morals and loving the good for all human beings when the human race is united and feels the importance of unity for the advancement of humanity in all when humans realize that there is no point in conflict and egoism that causes destruction. when a man believes that there is no difference between people from all over the world. now how can we do that? we can reach the peace of mankind by planting peace, that is, by planting it in the hearts of children from the very earliest age, to grow with them and they will grow up on it. they will take it as a path to a life in all aspects of life, political, economic, religious and social. and we can do that by: rearing peaceful children: nowadays, children have the ability to create a world with no war in the future. also, they have this great chance of being role model adults who are against the fight. in fact, some believe that the way a nation or a generation operates will reflect on how the parents treat their children. the environment has this great impact on everyone. the child who grows up having access to how they truly feel is prepared with the abundant knowledge possible. also by letting them know the social skills and most importantly the do’s and don’ts of life, it is important that we also support them to feel truly at peace and content with themselves. they need guidance whenever they feel comfortable and uncomfortable. and an encouragement to freely express his feelings from the beginning may help them to realize that we are here to understand them and support them. it will take a lot of courage and focus to achieve this peaceful parenting. through giving a positive feedback and right criticism to the challenges in their lives may help them to realize and reflect to learn from it. negative action will never get a positive outcome. so as a parent, good examples should start within us. we are their role model. they tend to imitate what we do. stopping violent media: the animation could be much more hazardous than any other experience a youngster could witness before the age of twelve. it could cover content that would confuse the child with what he experiences in actual life, it could contain directions that refutes the parents’ orders. a faulty animation could lead a kid to have a different unwanted point of view of his parents, his peers, educator and even his god. any negative content could lead a child to doubt his abilities, the style of thinking, the lifestyle that he has grown up according to or his belief. any undesirable attitude and manner which are shown by a character on the screen who portray as a conqueror could lead to misinterpretation of the child and he may apply it in his life. in a research presented by dr. huisman, at michigan university, he mentioned that this type of violence distributed for kids would have one of two possible effects on them. first, a case named “desensitization” which means that the child misses logical thinking of the outcome of his actions. he is clueless about the result of his action which will be the start for him to carelessly imitate the cartoon characters together with his friends as if it is ordinary the way the adult repeat a dialogue or line from a movie or tv show with a friend just for fun. then his mind incorrectly begins to convince the hitting someone using a hard object is funny and not a serious matter. that is why exposing them to any violent scenes may affect their behavior and actions. next to is fear & uncertainty. through the exposed violent scenarios presented on tv, the child may defy the logic, which will cause him to hesitate before acting in life. he begins not to foresee the outcome of his actions, whether it is acceptable or would hurt someone. another research entitled “rochester institute of technology” performed by thomas a. kooijmans concluded that the violence that looks excessively and with no aim in a tv cartoon show, causes the extreme increase in adrenaline production which may cause an unbalanced state of mind. the child then begins to act anxiously and aggressively towards regular situations or during his spare time with his companions. violence on television is not limited to the form of violence that we see on dexter or law and order “cartoon” violence can also affect children cognitively and behaviorally. cartoon violence also is known as “happy” or “sanitized” vi
